Color Tree Media Review – Top 3 Web Hosts

Web Hosting and Domain Registration

We have been using HostGator and GoDaddy since 2005. As our businesses evolved over the years, our hosting and domain needs have evolved as well. We recently realized we have used just about every hosting solution on the market, including Shared, Reseller, Dedicated Server, and VPS Hosting. We have also registered 100+ domain names, sounded like a good time to make an official recommendation :)

We started with a simple requirement, a static website on a single domain name. This didn’t last long, as we (and the rest of the web) quickly moved to blogs, content management, ecommerce, and multiple domains. We also started to host client websites and register domain names through 3rd party reseller programs. After trial and error with several companies, we chose HostGator and GoDaddy for the long-term, and are glad we did.

Hostgator has provided solid hosting for us over the last 7 years, their web services (servers, connectivity, email, security) have all kept up with our dynamic environment. They have a professional support staff who are available 24×7 via phone, chat, or email. Unlike several previous web hosts we had worked with, Hostgator has been a great partner for us, and we plan to continue to work with them in the future.

GoDaddy.com
For Domain Registration, our choice is GoDaddy. Good prices, great support, and a very easy-to-use web management interface. My only recommendation is choose upgrades for your domain carefully during checkout. It is very easy to point your domain name servers to external hosting, so you have complete flexibility in your choice of web host. Watch for their sales on .com and .net domains.
